Is true to say that the 6 phases of project management only applies to IT projects and not others.

Doubtful abt the application of the 6 phases of project management to IT projects alone as other says it is applicable to all. Need clarification on this.

First of all, there are only 5 phases in project management and they are generic to all projects. These phases are:

- Initiating
- Planning
- Executing
- Monitoring and controlling
- Closing

The above phases are not exclusive to IT projects - in fact, these phases adapt much better to construction projects (due to their predictability and their inherent waterfall nature) than to IT projects.
