Another study showed project management one of the top 5 growth career paths in the next few years. Salaries of $80,000 - $120,000 are not uncommon for in-house positions, and quite a bit more for independent professionals.
It's logical that it would be a good career path, when you realize project management is basically about getting good stuff done faster than normal.
Caveat: It can be a pressure-cooker career that's not for everybody. You have to be able to handle high stress, ambiguity, and political risk. If you can, a project management career is hard to beat!
