What does the term ATP mean in project management? I know that it's an acronym and if I'm not mistaken the first letter stands for Authority. Does anybody know?

ATP can also mean "Acceptance Test Procedure". The Acceptance Test Procedure consists of a collection of all the tests that are needed to be done by both at the end of the project for the client to "accept" the project (see: http://www.projectmanagementquestions.com/1599/project-acceptance-criteria-example ).

ATP, in project management, means "Authority To Proceed"

The term is used to identify those who possess the authority to tell the project manager to proceed with the project. Also, it can be used to mean that the project has been authorized to proceed (to proceed, in this case, means either to start if the project is not yet started, or to move to the next stage/phase).

The term, ATP, is mostly used by the PPM (when they select/authorize projects), or during gate meetings (when projects are authorized to move to the next gate), or during phase review meetings (when projects are authorized to move to the new phase if already started).
