Are there any project management awards?

I was just thinking, we have the Oscars for acting (best actor/actress/script/etc..), we have the Pulitzer prize for journalists. Nearly every profession has its own awards.

Now that everyone admits that project management is a profession, doesn't it now need its own awards? If there are already PM awards, then what are they, and who's responsible for them? Is it PMI?

You'd be surprised to know that there is such a thing as project management awards. This program is managed by PMI (the Project Management Institute). To read more on the PM awards and to see the recipients for the 2010 year, you can check this link: http://www.pmi.org/About-Us/Our-Professional-Awards/2010-PMI-Award-Recipients.aspx

Now while these awards are not of the size of the MTV awards, they are a good start for recognizing outstanding project managers who are really making a difference.
