Is there a deadline for taking the PMP exam?

My application for taking the PMP exam has been approved but I'm not ready yet to take the exam. I want to know if there is a deadline after the approval of my application to take the PMP exam? If there is a deadline, then what happens if I decided to take the PMP exam after the deadline is over, do I need to re-apply from scratch?

Yes, there is a deadline for taking the PMP exam. You have to take the exam within a year after the approval of your application. For example, if your application is approved today - September 22, 2011 then you have until September 21, 2012 to take the exam. So hurry up!

Note: You can only take the exam 3 times within the one year eligibility period.

You have one year from the date of approval and may take the exam up to three times during that year.  You might want to download the handbook for the exam available at http://www.pmi.org/en/Certification/Project-Management-Professional-PMP.aspx for complete information about deadlines, fees, test blueprint, and retests.
