Is the PMP exam online?

Can I take the PMP exam online? In other words, after my application is approved, can I just click on "Take exam" somewhere on the PMI website and start taking the PMP exam immediately?

If this is the case, then what happens if I lose Internet connection at one point during the exam? And how do I know my score? Do I know it immediately after I finish the exam?

The PMP exam is not online. You have to do it on-site (usually at a Prometric testing center).

In North America and most of the world you will need to go to a Prometrics testing center to take the test on a computer.  The computer is locked down so you can only access the test. The exam environment is highly controlled.  When you click the "finished" button, you will get your pass/fail indicator and just outside the test room, a detailed printout will show your score by the various areas of the test.

In some rare instances outside North America, there have been times when test translations are not available on a computer.  You will still go to a testing center and take the exam with pencil and paper.  Not certain of the process, however I believe PMI hand scores these and sends you your results.
