Has anybody heard of the "test funnel"

What does the term "test funnel" mean in a project management context? Is it related to the testing phase of a software project? Does it have anything to do with the quality management and/or quality control of the project? Please explain with an example.

This term doesn't exist in any project management reference, including the PMBOK. I think the term is proprietary either to a company, or an individual.

I've been asked to to describe the Test Funnel in one of my assignment questions for my Diploma Project Management - it's to do with Quality Management (Inspection and Testing) but other than that, I'm unsure.
From what I can make out, it is about the quality control of a project at various stages - inspect and test to make sure it is within the parameters of agreed quality criteria.
I came on here looking for answers myself, so I hope I haven't confused you?
