I would like someone to give me an example, out of his own personal experience, on how he was more productive when he was working with a team, and how the presence of a team charter positively affected his productivity and his integration within the team.

Are you talking about me as a project manager or me as a developer? Because you can be part of the team and, of course, a team player even if you are a project manager.
In any case, I remember several years ago, when I was a developer, we were working under this great project manager: conflicts were only a few and were solved on the spot, team motivation was really high, and we were finishing things fast. I think it all had to do with how the project manager managed the project, he didn't micromanage yet he didn't leave us by ourselves, he was there to help, and he was always monitoring things in the background.
I remember back then we had a team charter (see an example of a team charter here:
http://www.projectmanagementquestions.com/2216/give-me-an-example-of-a-team-charter
) and it helped us a lot in knowing our roles and responsibilities on the project. The team charter was also very handy because it defined how communication worked between us (the team members).
I think I gave more than 100% of my energy on this project, and I was always motivated, and so were all the other team members.

You are the project manager at an industrial design firm. You expect to spend a total of $75,000 on your current project. Your plan calls for five people work on the project eight hours a day, five days a week, for four weeks. Acording to the schedule, your team should have just finished the third week of the project. When you review what the team has accomplished so far, you find they have completed 50% of the work at a cost of $35,000. Based on this information, calculate the Earned Value Numbers.

As a manager, how would you deal with resistance to change when you suspect employee fears of job loss are well founded?
