What are the similarities between project and operations management?

I'm trying to find out what are the similarities between project management and operations management. All I could find was the differences between the two, while I really want to know what are the activities that are common between the two.

Since operations management is all about creating products and services to enhance the business operations of the organization, and project management consists of the whole process that creates these products and services, then it's obvious that project management falls under operations management.

I think it's safe to say that the main similarity  is that they both aim to generate more money for the organization or enhance the organization's efficiency (for example by creating/upgrading an internal/external product or a service).

Another similarity between the two is that they're both derived/influenced from the minds of the same people (such as Frederick Taylor, Henry Gantt, Henri Fayol, etc...
