How to estimate labor in a construction project?

I'm asked by the construction project manager to estimate labor. How do I do that? He didn't give me any guidelines or templates, he just asked me to estimate the labor. Should I ask him for more information on how to do it?

PS: I'm a project coordinator, is it my responsibility to do this (I was never asked to do this in previous companies)?

Cost estimation in construction project is a science in and for itself. You can check here how you estimate the labor in a construction project: http://pmbook.ce.cmu.edu/05_Cost_Estimation.html

As a project coordinator, you are not responsible at all for estimating the cost of the labor. You are, however, responsible for developing the project schedule (which includes scheduling labor) under the supervision of the project manager.
