How much time did it take to complete Burj Dubai?

I admire Burj Dubai and I think it sets new standards in luxury construction projects and a new landmark when it comes to architecture in general.

How much time did it take to complete Burj Dubai, from the start of the project until it opened for the public?

Burj Dubai (later named to Burj Khalifah) had its first stone laid in January of 2004, and it was open to publish in January of 2010. In total, it took 6 years to finish this project.
