How much time you should allocate for project management?

I have two questions:

- In the project plan, should I add the project manager (myself) as a resource?
- What is the percentage of the project time that should be allocated for project management? Some say 5% of every project (time) should be allocated for project management. Is this correct?

Between 5% to 10% of every task should be allocated for project management. Anything more and you risk adding scrutiny to the so-called "overhead of project management".
