Should a scheduler and customer service rep be the same job

I'm a project manager for a granite fabrication company. Been there for 3 weeks .  I'm in charge of the customer service group at present the customer service reps (CSR) also schedule the jobs. It seems to me that this should be 2 separate jobs. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.   We do the fabrication and installation.
