I have practiced law for 4ears now. I have managed casework as a member of a team, as a team leader and on my own. Does my casework count as project management for PMI purposes?

I recommend you download the certification handbook, read the qualifications, and decide on that basis. The actual certification consists of three components: Education, Experience, Exam.

The handbook can be downloaded from:

http://www.pmi.org/en/Certification/~/media/PDF/Certifications/pdc_pmphandbook.ashx.

If you do not completely qualify for the PMP, you may qualify for the CAPM.
