What is the project management approach?

I'm currently taking a project management class and our instructor keeps on repeating the term "project management approach" without caring to explain what it is. The problem is, I'm too shy to ask her what she means by that, or to ask one of my classmates.

Can someone explain it to me?

The term "project management approach" is not a standard term and can mean different things.

Project management approach can mean one of the following (depending on the context):

- The project management methodology: What kind of methodology we are going to use for a project. For example, "we chose the waterfall project management approach for our project"

- The leadership style applied to manage the project: For example, "this project manager uses the servant leader leadership style as a project management approach"

- Using project management to manage projects: In companies that do not use project management, the PM approach means applying project management to manage projects. For example, "We will adopt the project management approach to manage projects in our company henceforth".
