What is the difference between project scope statement and contract work statement?

Please explain the difference (if any) between the project scope statement and the contract work statement. If they are different, then can you please explain under which circumstances should each one of them be used. Can a project have both a project scope statement and a contract work statement?

There isn't necessarily a difference and I often use them interchangably for consulting projects.  For some more complex projects the contract work statement may be more limited to reduce or limit legal obligations.  The more detailed the scope can be the better, especially for fixed price contracts. I suggest you check local laws in your country to make sure this is true for your locale.
