What happens to the project if the stakeholders are not consulted?

Let's say that I'm managing a project and I don't consult with my stakeholders at all, even when it comes to critical decisions about the project. What do you think will happen to my project? Will it surely fail? Or will it succeed as I will be able to avoid the stakeholders' nonsense (unnecessary change requests, politics, etc...) while executing the project?

It is really hard to predict without more specific information.  I have seen stakeholders not consulted delay projects (6 months in one case) and avoid participation (when one stakeholder was the only one not participating, he had no choice but to cooperate though).  I wouldn't say "surely fail", but you will certainly have unintended consequences to deal with.  And likely succeed if you handle them well.
