What kind of project management education is required for the PMP?

In order for me to be eligible for the PMP, what kind of project management education do I need? Do I need to take a 6 months project management course in a university? Or is a 3 day training course with a PM training company sufficient? Can I acquire the necessary PM education (to support me towards my PMP application) online?

The only education requirement is to have 35 class hours.  But to pass the test will require more, plus on the job experience (differing hours with and without a college degree).  I don't know that anyone has estimated what this would take and in my opinion, a 3 day class is enough to review for exam, but not to learn.  You might want to read all the requirements here:  http://www.pmi.org/en/Certification/Project-Management-Professional-PMP.aspx.
