What is the best and fastest way to get 60 PDUs?

I'm a PMP and I have to sustain my PMP certification with 60 PDUs every 3 years. What is the best way to accumulate 60 PDUs in the least amount of time? I am willing to pay for those PDUs. I've seen ads on Google stating that 60 PDUs are available for $349, is this true? And if it is, what's the point of PDUs other than a trap to strip some money from PMP certified project managers?

Well, first of all, if you're a project manager at the moment or doing strictly doing project/program management activities in your job, then you can gather 15 PDUs/3 years just for doing your work, which means that you have to gain 45 PDUs.

Now there are other ways that you can gain PDUs:

- Reading project management articles/books (up to 30 PDUs per 3 years)
- (Co-)Authoring project management articles/books (up to 45 PDUs per 3 years)
- Offering project management services for free/volunteering (up to 45 PDUs per 3 years)
- Taking project management courses, online or offline (1 hour = 1 PDU)

I think before paying $349, you should check the options above, the way I see it, an involved project manager will already have 45 PDUs every 3 years without doing an extra effort (he must be doing his job and he must be reading PM articles).

If you're very close to the end of your 3 year cycle then all you have to do is take one of these online courses.
