Why are some project managers hesistant to terminate the project?

I think it's very odd why some project managers are so reluctant to kill a project that they know will be doomed and is draining the company's resources. Why does this happen? Why are project managers resilient to take such a healthy decision?

Project managers are usually hesitant to kill their own project because of the following reasons:

- There is no process for termination.
- It is the job of the project manager to "complete" the project, not to "kill" it.
- Resilience to killing the project might be falsely perceived as perseverance.
- It is their "baby".
