Are customers stakeholders?

Can we say that customers (or clients) are project stakeholders? I think that we should, since stakeholders, are, by definition, those people who are positively or negatively affected and/or can positively or negatively affect the project.

What do others think?

Yes, customers/clients are definitely stakeholders, in fact, they are the most important stakeholders, as they have the biggest "stake" in the project. The project is done for them, they want the project to succeed to improve their business, and their business will most likely if the project fails.
