Is scope control the same as change control?

I am currently taking a project management class at the moment and based on what the instructor is telling us and the material that we're reading for this class, it seems to me that scope control is exactly the same thing as change control. Am I right in my assumption? If not, then what is the difference between the two?

Scope control refers to controlling changes to the project scope whereas Change Control is a formal process used to ensure that changes to a product or system are introduced in a controlled and coordinated manner
