How do you calculate the project markup? Also, I don't think I understand the concept of the project markup very well, could someone please explain it to me (I know it has something to do with the project costs).

The project markup is an amount added to actual project costs to determine the profit.  There is not a singular way to calculate this and if there is to be a project markup, it must be specified within the contract.  Almost every type of contract except a pure cost reimbursement contract includes some type of profit in the form of a fee, award, or incentive.
