I want to know what is the biggest project that is currently undertaken in the whole world. I'm sure it's a construction project. What is it and where is it?

It seems that the largest projects are currently being undertaken in the Middle East. Here's a couple:

- Saudi Arabia's Mile High Tower in Jeddah: Which is a commercial/residential tower that is one mile high (1,609 meters), costing around $30 billion built on an area of about 38 million square feet (3.5 million square meters). The contractor of this project is Bechtel, and the owner is the Kingdom Holding Company.

- The City of Silk in Kuwait City: It's a whole new city being built, accommodating around 700,000 people. The city will be done in 2016, and the total cost is 100 billion. The owner is Tamdeen, and there are many contractors working on this project. The architect is: Eric Kuhne. The city of silk also includes a 3,300 foot (1,000 meter) high tower.

Current?  There are a few candidates depending on how you are measuring.  There is Palm Island and Burj Dubai (http://blog.theprojectnotebook.com/2008/03/projects-to-watch-burj-dubai/), both major construction projects in Dubai.  Both of these are mostly complete.

There is also a massive extension to the Panama Canal underway (http://blog.theprojectnotebook.com/2010/04/projects-to-watch-a-man-a-plan-a-canal/).  This project is scheduled to complete in 2015.

I also would not rule out potential projects from NASA or new privatized space exploration companies.  A private firm is currently investing significant funds in R&D of a space hotel.
