The information available on the inverted matrix organization structure is quite rare (I have never worked in such organization before).

Apparently, and from my research on the subject, it seems that it's just another name for a projectized organization (where the work in the company just consists of projects, and where project managers are in control).

Since it's a projectized organization, then obviously it's a project manager's heaven, and thus I can't see any associated disadvantages of an inverted matrix organizational structure with respect to PM.
