What is a budget unit and how is it used in project management? Is a budget unit the same as a duration unit, but with the difference that a budget unit is in dollars (or any other currency)?

The budget unit is the base unit of measure that is used to calculate costs.

A budget unit can be anything measurable, it can be a dollar amount (for example $100), an  hour, a day, a weight unit (such as pound or kg), etc...

A budget unit is not the duration unit, but that doesn't mean that the two cannot have the same unit of measure (for example, both the budget unit and the duration unit are one hour).
