Is there a better certification than the PMP?

I'm reading a lot lately how the PMP is not as prestigious as before, and a lot of individuals with very little project management experience were able to acquire it, while prominent project managers failed at the exam. I'm wondering if it's still relevant to real life, or did it just become another certification that will add value to your salary, but will not add value to your profession as a project manager.

Is there a better project management certification at the moment? I don't care if it's widely recognized and appreciated by companies, I just want to know if it's better for me, as project manager.

I second your thoughts but currently there is no other project management certification better than the PMP.

The PMP is essential for IT professionals and is consistently high on the top 10 list of certifications.

Even with all its flaws, the PMP is still by far the best and the most respected project management certification out there.

My opinion that is not up to you to value your worthiness as a project manager, it is up to your managers and the company you're working in (or you will be working in). Another certification that is worth the time and also respected is the PRINCE2, but this one is only widely known in western Europe and  Australia.

If you have a program management experience you can go for the PgMP, only a select few are currently holders of the PgMP certifications, and the rules are much stricter, so it's more of an exclusive club.
