I was going through the MS Project manual and I've noticed that there is something called lag. Can someone explain to me what that is and how I can use in my project schedule?

Lag is the delay of time between two tasks, for example, let's say that task B starts 2 days after task A ends, then the lag is 2 days. The "lag time" can be expressed either in fixed time units (hours, days, etc...) or it can be a percentage of the predecessor's task duration.

An example where the lag time is put to practical use is in a room painting project. For example, you paint one coat (task A), then you have to wait a day (lag time), to paint a second coat (Task B).
