What is the mimimum qualification or criteria to appear for the PMP?

I want to apply for the PMP and I'm not sure about the eligibility requirements and whether I meet those requirements or not as my project management experience is not that vast.

What are the absolute minimum qualifications that I should posses and the minimum criteria that I must meet in order to be eligible to at least take the exam?

In order to be eligible for the PMP, you must meet the following criteria:

- If you have a university degree, then you need 4,500 hours of project management experience.
- If you don't have a university degree, then you need 7,500 hours of project management experience.

You will also need 35 contact hours, which means 35 hours of formal project management education that is approved by PMI (There are lots of universities offering project management courses that will give the necessary number of contact hours for your PMP, but check first).

Note that your project management experience SHOULD cover all 5 process groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing.
